The South Hadley Cultural Council will host a reception on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in honor of this year’s grant recipients. The event will be held from 6:30pm to 7:45pm in the community room of the South Hadley Public Library at 27 Bardwell Street.
The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
The evening will begin with a ‘meet and greet’ opportunity for grant recipients to network and mingle informally with Council and community members, and representatives of local organizations. Participants will enjoy tasty treats and community building, and have an opportunity to chat with those who have received grant awards about their 2014 projects.
Council members will also say a few words about funding priorities for the 2015 grant cycle. Excitement is mounting about the town’s new library building overlooking the Connecticut River, a project that has prompted reflection on South Hadley’s past and future as a river town. Individual artists and organizations are invited to be part of SH2O, a year of creative celebration highlighting South Hadley’s heritage and proximity to the river.
The South Hadley Cultural Council is seeking proposals for projects taking place in 2015 that connect to a broad theme of water or reference community history, place, and relationships with the River. A calendar of events in connection with the theme is planned. New and original projects are particularly encouraged, as are collaborative projects and proposals involving local artists and organizations. Grant applications for projects taking place in 2015 are due by October 15, 2014.
The gathering will offer a chance for guests to ‘flow’ into conversation about life by the water and consider inventive possibilities for bringing cultural activities around a central theme to new audiences in a variety of disciplines: arts, humanities and interpretive sciences. Participants are encouraged to bring business cards and other materials to share.
