An informational meeting will be hosted by the owners of Woodlawn Plaza to discuss plans for their proposed apartment project on the site of the ‘old’ Big Y, at the intersection of Routes 116 and 33 in South Hadley.

In recent months, the Town has designated the area around Woodlawn Plaza as the Newton Street Smart Growth Development Zone to allow for mixed use development. New Design Guidelines for the district have been approved by the Planning Board, and this is the first project proposed under the new zoning option.
Also, MassDOT is planning to resurface Newton Street/Route 116 from Route 202 to just past Kendrick Street in the not-too-distant future. The project will include reconstruction of sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, new crossword, and bicycle accommodations with an on-road buffered bicycle lane along the majority of the corridor.
