The Bombyx Brass Collective, under the musical direction of Margaret Reidy, continues its second season with a performance at the Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity on Thursday March 2 at 7PM. The Center (bombyx.live) is a new performance venue housed in a historic church at 130 Pine Stree Florence, MA.
The concert will open with the stirring and iconic “Fanfare for a Common Man” by Aaron Copeland, followed by BBC hornist Lucy Colwell, performing the Haydn Horn Concerto in D. Also included on the program will be “Pictures at an Exhibition” (Mussorgsky), arranged and conducted by BBC trombonist Mark Turcotte; James Taylor’s “Shed a Little Light”, arranged and conducted by BBC trumpet player Will Choe; and Robert Russell Bennett’s “Suite of Old American Dances”, arranged by BBC friend Jerry Lawson.
Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted online or at the door. All proceeds go to support future programming, including masterclasses and performances that the group has planned in local public schools this Spring.
We hope you can join us for this exciting program. This performance promises to be our most diverse and interesting yet!
